Welcome to the Philippines, and its capital on the island of Luzon. The city of Manila was known as the "Pearl of the East" as a result of its central location on the vital sea trade routes around the Pacific. Meet and greet with our assistant and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Dinner included and accommodation. (Please Note: According to the arrival times of most participants, dinner may be included the following day.)
After breakfast, we proceed to the Old part of Manila which was once the Spanish walled city founded by Legaspi in 1571. There, we will explore the Santiago Fortress to see the life of José Rizal, known for starting the people’s revolution through literature. We will also visit the Manila Cathedral.
We have lunch before going on our way to visit St Augustine’s Church. We will have the option of taking a ride on a ‘calesa’ (horse-drawn carriage) through the city.
In the afternoon, we will go to the city of ASEANA, a new commercial district and the modern side of Manila, where we will have free time to shop. Return to the hotel.
We transfer to the airport for our flight ( tickets included in package) to PUERTO PRINCESA, the capital of the ISLAND OF PALAWAN. At Puerto Princesa, we will visit and enjoy one of the seven natural wonders of the world which is the Sabang Underground River National Park located north of Puerto Princesa. This site also considered as a UNESCO World Heritage. Lunch will be included with this visit. In the Sabang Park, you can also see the fascinating stalactites and stalagmites that took thousands of years to form. The day begins with a boat ride where we will be island hopping across the Honda Bay. First stop will be at Starfish Island, which has the largest population of starfish in the whole of Palawan. Then on to the Luli Island, which rises and sinks between the low and high tides. You will be having your lunch in one of the cabins on the island. After that we get a chance to relax on Pandan Island before returning to our hotel. After our dinner, we will spend some time looking at glow-worms situated along the river Iwahig. Return to the hotel after your visit.
(Please note: The glow-worm activity may not be possible due to excess demand from the tourist season and long waits. In that case, we will visit the "Palawan wildlife conservation centre" where we will have the opportunity to see its big crocodiles)
In the morning, depart for EL NIDO in the northern part of Palawan. Along the way we will stop in TAYTAY, the former capital of the island where we will see the SANTA ISABEL FORTRESS built in Spanish Colonial times to defend the city from the Moro Pirates. At Taytay we will be having our lunch. (Please note: There will be no stop in Taytay if there are fewer than four travellers registered, in which case transport will be given on a regular service and this stop will be cancelled). We resume our journey to EL NIDO and after arrival you are welcome to explore this beautiful place and relax. The port of EL NIDO is full of fishermen with their ‘bangkas’. EL NIDO is the main base from where excursions early in the morning are made to the enigmatic islands of this archipelago. After the visit we have our dinner and proceed back to the hotel.
In the morning we will take one of the most beautiful boat trips to see some of the prettiest beaches in the world. The boat trip also includes a tour of the island.
